A new mom at church asked me to make her a diaper bag. “Bright colors on a dark background.” is what she said so I went with Michael Miller’s Boho Blossom in orchid. What fun, springy fabric! I can now safely say that this bag (pattern here) CAN be made with regular cotton fabric.
And before going off to be the workhorse that a diaper bag inevitably is, Blossom wanted to play in the nice spring weather we’ve been having.
Sunbathing on a casualty of winter…

Swinging in the cool spring breeze….

Dreaming of summer…

Playing soccer…

And letting her hair down to go down the slide…

Bye, Blossom! Work hard and stay beautiful!

What a beautie Blossom is!! Ooooh! And guess who got a little lovely gift pushed under her apartment door the other day??? ME! Thank you so much for the pattern and fabric! I can’t wait to get started, you made my day!! Take care!! Happy Spring!
Very pretty!
Very cute post!!
Pretty fabric.
That fabric is perfect!
That’s too pretty to be a diaper bag!
oh, she’s lovely! And quite the personality, for a bag.
Oh, it’s beautiful! She’ll be so pleased. I think your pictures are very clever, too.
How lovely!!! Love the way you let her have a play before she had to start her rough and tough life as a vertual nanny for the new baby.
She will get to see a lot in her new life too.
Love the fabric, very SPRINGY !!!
It turned out really cute. So did your pics. Way too much time on your hands!!
That is Gorgeous! I am in love with that fabric. Oh woe is me, I cannot buy any fabric for a while!! Though some kind soul is sending me some because she tried to sew and can’t and wanted it to find a good home. If I could only buy one luxury item ever again, it would be fabric. I also used some cotton non-decorator weight fabric from Amy Butler (I posted a pic in your FLICKR group), of course even that is heavier than most cottons. Great job and very entertaining to see the bag having so much fun!
What a clever post for a beautiful bag!!
Love your sense of humor
What did you use for your interfacing if any at all? I found a diaper bag pattern and want to make one for my friend and am not sure what to use. This bag is a beauty
Did you have to do anything different to use cotton? Just curious for when I go to make this.
Hee Hee - these photos make me chuckle! Great job - love the fabric and the personality!
I love the bag, but especially the action shots!
Cute fabric and the bag looks very roomy.
Just lovely, great choice for a beautiful bag! I found your posting about the interfacings very interesting, but this posting was so much fun!! Loved all the pics!
Very cute, but I am worried you may be spending way too much time with your fabrics!

what else does she dream of?

LOVE the fabric! It’s so cute and fun, but looks like it can handle being carried all over the place with style.

Questions! If I am sewing a thick material or several thick layers, Do I use an upolstery needle? I have tried a that and a reg. needle, busted 3 total. Think I just need a new machine?
Fantastic bag design. Design really complements the fabric — or vice versa!
Hi, I love your bag! I thought about making one each for my sister and sister in law, but didn’t know how hard it is to make. I have never added a magnetic snap, and didn’t want to order something that I couldn’t make. Does it give clear directions on how to do that? Thanks so much,
Tara
This is the cutest bag. Beautiful fabric AND the blog post so super cute. I got a good laugh. It makes the bag take on it’s own personality and seem human. But they are of course aren’t they……LOL.
