You know you have a sewing addiction when you see this on clearance:
Add some pockets…
… a little boning for stability, and some leather straps, and make this:
I actually like this style – maybe with a more pursey shape. I don’t think I’ll be using this bag because I just have way too many. Maybe I’ll start giving some of my stuff away on the blog. Maybe in January. Is that lame?

I saw a skirt in a thrift store awhile back that I thought had a great print, just not to wear as a skirt. Next time, I won’t pass it up!
When you’re going to give some bags away, do you consider outside U.S. fans too?
What a great idea!!! And how cute! I am still in love with the Lindie bag! And thanks to your great tutorial, I have made a few as gifts this year.
You are always so creative! Thanks for sharing your ideas! Oh, and give-a-ways are an awesome idea!!!!
So cute…great idea!
Super cute! Too girly for my personal tastes, but it looks like an awesome bag, “not hey… was that a skirt?”
…as for the giveaways, no one will complain if you start doing that!
Yes! Do the giveaways!
love the bag, its a nice style!
I think I saw the exact same clearance and thought the same thing!
I might have to go grab a couple when they hit rock bottom.
Good job as always – looks cute!
Doing giveaways are fun! You should do that. What a great idea for the skirt. Very CreativE!
giving stuff away is never lame!!! bring it on!
I seriously hope they don’t come up with a 12 step program to cure us of this addiction. I don’t want to be cured. I love it! Oh, cute bag too.
I would have never thought of making a skirt like that into a bag!! Pretty!
oh my goodness how cute. My favorite part is the blouse-wearing dress dummy who has her arm so casually draped over her new bag.
You’re brilliant! The bag looks amazing. And yes, you should do a giveaway.
The flirty skirty bag! I love ruffles! My sister has a shower cutain like that in white. I hope that trend never goes away! I like to feel a little demure, too!
Very cute!
and ruffles are so in right now.
Definitly give some away … It brings you joy to make them but angst to have them lying around and not used … share the joy!
That’s not lame at all. I have to confess to doing the same thing. Sometimes the fabric in thrift store skirts is perfect for lining a bag (or in this case, making a bag!). And I can’t tell you how many placemats and napkins I’ve bought over the years to turn into bags or pillows. (Let’s not talk about how many I’ve actually used.)
What a cute idea!
Very clever idea and oh so cute!!
What a neat idea! I love that!!! You always come up with the best ideas!
Help a family very dear to my heart have a memorable Christmas. It only takes a stamp. http://www.three-peas.com/2008/12/operation-christmas-card.html
Cute bag! Giveaways would be awesome!
I really like your background now.
And you’re a clever one with the bag too. My husband seems to think I have too many bags – WHAT?!?!? never!
cute! if that’s lame, I’m wantin’ lame!
That’s genius! I want one!
Hello, finally catching up on my reading
I love that you made a cool bag directly out of a skirt, lol. So clever and so useable. And I also love the casual look of the dress dummy
Hope you’re having a merry Christmas.
I’m so glad to have found a kindred spirit! I quite often pick up clothes while thrifting with the sole purpose of turning them into bags (or other treasures). My family was concerned when I brought home a denim skirt to fit a 3-year-old and and woman’s XXXL shirt. “It’s for the fabric,” I said.
