This weekend I tried making some patchwork cards. This first one went together really quickly, I thought. It’s made completely from paper squares cut with my square puncher, taped with double-sided tape to a backing sheet, sewed, then taped again to the front of a card so that the holes from the sewing wouldn’t be on the inside of the card. It came together so quickly, that it inspired me to make one out of fabric…
This one here is made from some squares I cut from a charm pack (Moda’s Faded Memories) that I bought. It was seriously a pleasure purchase – and now that I have it, I don’t really know what to do with it other than drool over the 60 different prints. I cut a few squares and borders out, fused them to paper, and zigzagged ’em. This thing took as long as making a mini quilt. I don’t know if my hands just don’t handle working with little things very well or what, but it seemed like it took forever. I attached it to the front of the card with photo corners because the recipient better not throw it in the trash. They better carefully remove it from the photo corners, frame it, hang it in a place of prominence in their home, and treasure it forever because it took a lot of work and it’s a work of ART! It was back to paper for me – I needed instant gratification, but I won’t bore you with any more pictures.
Does anyone else have trouble getting a scanner to pick up pink? The pink is all wrong in both of the pictures above. I can’t have a scanner that doesn’t pick up PINK!! I LOVE PINK!

Beautifully done ! I’ve been toying with buying the faded memories pack myself. I like to make fabric postcards and cards and the charm packet would be perfect for those.
Those are wonderful! Too bad you didn’t sign up for the Notecard swap…Those would be perfect. I just love the idea of sewing paper.
I hate my scanner, and my camera is about the only good way to get pics into the computer, and even that doesn’t work very well. I wish I could help. Actually I wish someone could help me.
I just love this pink one, how delightful. I wouldn’t give it to anyone, it needs to be framed on your wall not someone else’s! All the photo’s I take are quite bright, when they are put on my blog they are so dark it’s hard to make them out!!
Oh wow they both look really pretty! The zig-zag stitch really makes it look special. Great work! I know it does seem to take forever making cards-even though they’re soooo small! I’m sure the recepients will cherish them forever. We’ll hunt them down if they don’t! he he he

So do you change out your sewing needles or just use the one you always use? Is it difficult to sew paper? Could I act any more scared to try something new?

If you send it to me I will frame it! They are both beautiful. I made all my Christmas cards this past year by sewing material on paper. Almost 100. It was such a hard task. I never thought of sewing paper…duh! I will have to try that! Thanks for the inspiration.
