So I’ve been tagged for various things lately, and haven’t participated. I don’t know why. I never intended this blog to become the show-and-tell blog that it’s turned out to be, but somehow things about me don’t really seem to fit very well. So here I go – a few things that I haven’t mentioned on my blog before combined with some weird things about me and some craftiness all wrapped into one.
Here is padfolio #4. #2 ended up in the trash. #3 looks exactly like #1 minus the business card holder. But the good news news is that 95% of my Kaffe Fasset prints are gone. GONE! I’m feeling better about my stash already.
So for quilted padfolio #4 above I used polyester batting. 10 years ago I stumbled onto Warm & Natural batting for my first quilt ever and have never tried polyester. Until now. I used some on this padfolio and let me just say, YUCK! I didn’t like working with it at all. It looks fine, but the feeling on my hands was just not the same as Warm ‘N Natural. That’s thing #1.
See the business card in the padfolio pocket? It’s from my doctor. Not my PCP, mind you, but my proctologist. “Your WHAT?” you ask? Yep, my proctologist. Hee hee. None of you really wanted to know that, right? But I just slipped it in. Pretty good, eh? Now if you’ve had 3 children and all the pushing that’s entailed, you can imagine why I might need to see a proctologist. If you haven’t had kiddos, then consider yourself warned/informed. I’ve been to a proctologist in the last month – that’s thing #2.
Which leads me to thing #3: I don’t really have a whole lot to hide. I talk about some things so freely that I know I make people uncomfortable (see above). I usually don’t bring it up unless the person I’m talking to opens the door, but I figure if someone had told ME about ‘rhoids, I wouldn’t have been so surprised. Btw, the banding procedure wasn’t exactly fun, but I am so glad that with modern medicine something can be done.
This fabric: it’s English, from Monica in a fabric swap. It is so pretty and so happy. I loved working with it. Thanks, Monica!
And on totally unrelated note, thing #4: I can’t watch other people kiss passionately or do anything more on TV or in movies. This didn’t used to be an issue for me, but after I got married, I just didn’t want to look at it anymore. The sweet, innocent stuff in movies like this are fine, but I routinely have to close my eyes when watching TV. And this isn’t hard, since (thing #5 here) I hardly ever just sit on the couch and watch TV. I’m always doing something, either ironing interfacing on my fabric or cutting something out on the coffee table.
Sorry folks. I usually try not to be this wordy in a post. Words take time and that’s probably why I have a show-and-tell blog. But consider yourself warned. If you tag me, there’s no telling how much more honest (and gross!) I might get next time. 😉

That was my favorite series of books as a teenager and I’ve been so excited to watch the movies over the last couple of years.
Since I’ve never commented here I guess I should tell you that I made one of your drawing cases for a friend’s daughter and it was a lot of fun! I already have plans for five or six more 🙂
So funny, well I guess it wasn’t so funny for you. This is the one thing that my friend who have had babies have warned me about. I love the portfolio. I may try my hand at this project.

I can’t watch stuff on TV, and only recently started watching again during night feedings of the little one. I don’t like violence either, so there’s not much to watch except maybe a little Antique Road Show!
Oh my gosh, I am SO WITH YOU on the kissing/passionate stuff. It never bothered me till I was married either! Now it just seems, I don’t know, gratuitous. Weird. I have been tagged to do the 6 weird things meme too, and so far I have resisted. I have some pretty weird things.
Oh, also. I’m glad I had breech babies and, hence, c-sections. No pushing. No roids. Praise God for that small mercy.

okay now that i’ve managed to scare you with my weirdness, i have to say i have a huge problem with PDA (public displays of affection for those of you who are unfamiliar). i am neither married nor a prude, but i just hate it. passionate kisses on tv/movies are okay with me, but in public? makes me want to vomit all over the place!
I like all the words. ‘Course, I like all the show and tell stuff too. There is something about motherhood that frees us up to talk about anything in the world–no matter how gross. Maybe it is changing all those diapers…
your pad-folio turned out great – and, hey, if you want to get rid of some more kaffe fabrics – i don’t have ANY! 🙂

The craftiness is well done as usual. I love the knitting needles in it. As a mother, I find these things completely normal and can pretty much relate to all of them. Except I have only had one child and the proctologist hasn’t been necessary… yet.

I don’t watch much TV either and when I do I only watch what I’ve taped so I don’t have to deal with commercials. great looking portfolio!
I’m with you on #4 (but not on #2, thank God!). It’s funny, I just noticed that about myself – I was watching a movie a couple of weekends ago and realized I would use the love scenes to check my stitch count!

Gosh, that is yet another thing we have in common, I tend to tell people about things such as bum doctors and don’t think twice about it either. Why should we? Oh and I had 2 kids the old fashioned way too and wish someone had warned me ahead of time. Not that that would have stopped me, but it would have made things that much easier to take. Hey we’re all human, right?

Hi. I LOVE coming to your site and checking on new projects but have never commented. I had problems after pushing for three hours with #2 and #3 and even had to see a colorectal surgeon. Thankfully I had been grinding my own flour and baking fresh bread just a couple weeks before my appointment. (It took several weeks to get an appointment.) Thankfully my body healed and I haven’t had problems since.
On a similar note, I went on to have three more children 🙂 and used a midwife for my care. I took herbs, improved my diet and tried natural births. Instead of having 3rd and 4th + degree tears, like I did with my other children, I never had more than a stitch or two. (My husband is 6’5″ and all our babies except one are between 9 1/2 to 10 lbs.) I’m not knocking doctors, epidurals or hospitals here, but trying to share some information for perhaps yourself or others to consider.
Well, back to the school work for little ones.
