It’s been a while since I’ve made a diaper bag so I was thrilled when Shelly asked me if I could make her one. A bagaholic is always looking for another excuse to make a bag, you know. The fabric is from Amy Butler’s Forest line of decor-weight fabric.
She wanted an outside sippy pocket so her toddler could get to his beverage easily. This was a fun challenge. I’ve never put a pocket on like this before:
The inside has 2 bottle pockets, a wipes pocket, and a cell phone pocket with a nice big flap to keep the phone from sliding out when you lean over in the store to pick up a shoe that has been thrown on the floor AGAIN. I speak from experience here. Having your phone slip out of it’s pocket at that moment is enough to send some moms over the edge.
Thanks, Shelly! I hope it meets your needs for years to come!
The pattern for this bag is available here.
Beautiful and so functional!
Beautiful. Very un-diaperbag. I’ve linked over from Shannon at Rocks in my Dryer. Thanks for the beauty!
Oooh, cute! I love the fabric. It looks more like a very cool purse rather than a diaper bag!
Excellent bag! I’ll have you know that the one you made for me is still in perfect condition, despite its constant use. You do such excellent work!
wow, that is such a great bag! the best ones are made by experienced moms! 🙂
I love the bag! I just got my first Amy Butler (Chelsea Bag) pattern in the mail, and can’t wait to make one, and it was your blog that inspired me to do so, have a nice day!
cute bag!
i’ve got about six months to figure out how to make myself a bag to carry my laptop around in. i don’t think that’s enough time.
That is the cutest diaper bag! I wish I would have had one that looked like that when my daughter was young.
I have a shower to go to for two friends and decided to make Amy Buttlers Nappy bag. I hope it turns out as nice as yours did. Did you use canvas inbetween the layers of outside fabric and inside lining? This pattern called for it. I am not sure what to do with the canvas as far as prewashing it or not. Any advice? It’s 100% cotton. I also used the Amy Buttler fabric. I love her fabric. This will be the first bag I make like this. It’s due the 8th of Jan. so I have to get busy!

Capello, if you find a pattern let me know. I need at laptop bag too.

Very nice bag! Nice to see a diaper bag that actually has some style.
ha ha ha! some times shoes on the store floor for the millionth time, hair blowing in my face, screaming babies/toddlers/preschoolers, and a cell phone falling out of my bag are enough to send me over the edge!! (are you talking about me?)
love the diaper bag and the thought you put into making it and perfecting it.
Great looking bag, love the cover for the cell phone. That was good thinking.
Gorgeous-I would use that for my knitting!
Beautiful work as ever. It is very hard to get the AB furnishing fabrics in Australia-and expensive too.
WOW.. you do an awesome job… do you make doggy carriers or slings.. I have a little tiny puppy and I dont have anything to carry him in.
That is a beautiful bag. I love the fabric! I wish I had a bag like that when I carried a diaper bag! Beautiful work!
That is gorgeous, I love the fact that it doesn’t look like a diaper bag! Great work (again).
That’s a great bag! And the fabric is awesome.
I have totally been over that edge, let me tell you. Ingeneous little flap!
Excellent bag. I also like that it doesn’t look like a diaper bag.
I must tell everyone how much I love this bag! It is so perfect for me and well made. I’m so glad I asked Linda to do it instead of making it myself!
Thanks Linda!!!
Well done! As one mom to another, I love the cell phone flap. And the outside pocket turned out great, I like the pleat at the bottom.
Hi there! That is a gorgeous bag, I would use it whether I was sporting diapers or not! Happy Holidays!

Gorgeous! The fabric, the design – it all looks perfect.
Aren’t you the clever one with the flapped cell phone pocket. What an idea!
I don’t make it by a couple of days and wham you do two to die for projects! I love the diaper bag. It looks so great! I mean so professionally made. You are so talented. That side pocket is just great!
What a fantastic looking bag! That’s a lucky mom. =)
I’m a mother a little baby girl and I would love to have the pdf file of the bag. Will you PLEASE send it to me!!!!
Regards
Cindy
Love your diaper bag. Do you have a pattern and instructions for your diaper bag? If not, could you direct me someplace for one?
I have a grandchild due in March and would love to make my daughter-in-law one. She’s a sweetheart.
Thank you.
Louise
Love the diaper bag – both beautiful and functional!
What pattern did you use for the diaper bag–I just love it and want to make one for a friend.
My brother’s wife is going to be having a baby and I would love to make them something like this. Do you have a pattern?
I love everything that you have made! You are so creative!! I just bought my first sewing machine but a friend of mine is having a baby soon and I’d love to make her a nice diaper bag just like the one you made. Do you have the pattern for this available? I am very new to sewing but I am so eager to learn.
Love this bag and I plan to replicate it for my daughter. Especially love the cell phone pocket idea. Only thing I would add is a tab in an inside seam where you could attach one of those snap hooks that are found in sporting goods stores. This way you could fasten your keys onto it. I saw this idea recently at a craft show and thought it to be pure genius.
I’ve always wondered how to do that elastic side pocket…I can get the pocket bit but how do you do the elastic? Is it easy?

I also love this bag – I couldn’t find Linda’s Etsy Shop to buy the pattern. Could someone please direct me with the website address?
Thanks!
will you please share how to make this?
Came across this gorgeous bag, saw all the people looking for the pattern, and stumbled across the pattern in Linda’s Etsy. Try here: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=81115

hi, I looooove your bag, I have been searching all over for a gorgeous nappy(diaper) bag which looks like a normal stylish handbag, but is also practical!!! I am a homeschool Mum to 5 children and need a bag big enough for cloth nappies as well. It appears to me you have designed it. I was hoping to be able to download it though, I live in Australia and don’t really want to wait for the paper version to arrive in a months time, although I did buy it from your store last night, so it will hopefully be on it’s way soon. Is there anyway of getting it in PDF so I can start making it today?? Please? Happy to pay again.
TIA, and bless you
