The Car Organizer Pattern is available here.
I am really excited about how this pattern turned out! Huge thanks to my test-sewers for their suggestions and design suggestions.

Here are some closeups:
On the floor in the front of the van. I took Karen’s suggestion (great idea, Karen!) to have a pocket for recharging the phone and to hold some pens. Fabric combo on this one is Midwest Modern and a pillowcase I had.
Who knew I’d become a plastic surgeon during this process?
Those are my legs – ugly veins photoshopped out. :o)
An aerial view:
Sitting on the back seat between the kids (fabric is Ginger Blossom):
Filled with things to keep the kids busy on the road:
And the best part? The seatbelt flap that prevents the organizer from flying off the seat! All credit for this design element goes to Lara and her hubby. Thank you!
And finally, one more cute fabric combo- Midwest modern and Ginger Blossom.
How can I be so excited about a box? I don’t know, but I am!
Pattern is available on my site here.
Well, I am excited too! You know I am crazy about your idea. These patterns are going to fly off the shelf for you! I hope you bulk ordered. Love the new site too! So crisp and clean. Love it!
Well done!!
I loved sewing this project and will post a pic on my new blog http://www.tryingtraditional.wordpress.com as my old adoption one I do not post to anymore (though if anyone is interested in international adoption there is a TON of info on that blog still.)
Thanks for the opportunity to give it a try and the pattern looks great!
Jenn
Very nice, thanks for the photos. It’s always nice to see a project in use. I love the seatbelt idea, and it would be great for tucking grocery ads, or a city map into if it was being used up front. My mother in law’s van could desperately use this… so I’ll put it onto my list of things to make for Christmas.
I love your new website! Ill be back often!
I have the pattern, and I’m going to start on it tomorrow!! My friend is opening a fabric store, and asked me to make one for display. I was thrilled because I have been wanting on e since you first started posting about it!
Thanks for the link! I’m so happy it has a cell phone pocket. I ordered my pattern on Monday. My goal is to have it done before I leave for a road trip next week. Crossing my fingers!!!!
I must have one for my minivan but I’ll never get around to sewing it 😦 Do you sell them ready made? I love the one with the trash compartment…..my latte cups are taking over! Email me 🙂
Wow! I think it makes total sense to get excited about a box–especially such lovely ones!
Kinda makes me miss my van…
LOVE it! I can easily see three of these in my van, one for me, one for the kids and one for the dog! I think I am going to have to get the pattern. Is it relatively easy to make, as in do you think I can do it?
Susan
I use Both of the ones I have! One for the car, and one by the stairs to corral all misplaced things. Dave’s been asking for one. Maybe you can trade him services!!
that’s really cute! i might have to add it to my list of projects to try…

How cute! What a great idea!
This is SO wonderful!! Will you be selling these premade for those of us that are sewing challenged?

This is so cool! I’m going to have to pass it along!
Wow — you should definitely sell those! I’d buy one in a jiffy. Great design.

It looks wonderful!
Cool! I hope to make one someday. (We have that same 1-100 dot to dot book.)
What great organisers. Love the fabrics and patterns. Such great ideas. Wish my car was large enough to have one in it.

I love this!! I must make a couple! well, if the first one turns out good 🙂
I can’t tell you how much I love this!! Your mix of fabrics make it look even cooler. I would love to make one, but I’m terrified of using all that interfacing. I think I need to get over that!
So that organizer is awesome! I love it and I really want to get the pattern and make one, but I ordered the diaper bag pattern from you like in November and still have not finished it … but I was wondering if you sold already made ones any where?
LOVE it! However, my sewing skills are quite limited; do you sell them already made?
I’ve gotten pretty excited over a box I made, too, so I understand. 🙂
Hey you!!
I have been commenty challenged these days…but I still peak my head in from time to time! I am so proud of you, of your designs and quality in creativity and craft. Definately hang up the patterns…or at least pics of the bags…to keep it flowing. And I think there is a huge market to sell the “already made” for those of us that are sewing “challenged”. Happy summer, and rock climbing is over rated, at least for those of us with kids, hee hee
LOVE IT! I have a basket I tote because hubby and I switch cars a lot and it’s nice to have to only move 1 thing — but I love how yours is so organized. I’m on it! :)K
That is completely fabulous!
I love this and I am insanely jealous that you have room on the seat to put this. We are currently in a 8 seater suburban named Katrinka who is full with all of us. We are waiting on God to add two more children to our family (and thus a larger tank). Perhaps in the new car we could use several of these…how many do you recommend for 8 children. 😉
Not sure I have the skill needed to sew this, but it truly is amazing.

I have been looking for a pattern for this!!! I can’t wait to get it and start sewing!!
could i ever use one of these, two of these. i randomly landed here after searching for a fabric with a mod pattern of green apples (want to TRY to make a curtain for my girls closet). i am not crafty, though i wish i could be.
can i order one of these pre-made????
mb
thank you
I just finished making one of these. I love it! That pattern was incredibly detailed and very easy to follow. Thank you for a great product.
Hi Tina,
Thanks for letting me know! This is probably my most difficult pattern (it took me 6 long months to write) so it is SO good to know you conquered it! Congrats! Linda
I would like to purchase one already made – is this possible?

I love this, but I see people talking about buying the patterns, but I don’t see where to do that. Where Cain find that out?
The pattern is available here: http://craftapple.com/3-the-car-organizer-pattern.html
Hope this helps!
do you sell them already made? I NEED one
I am sorry. I have sold the few that I made to sell and just don’t have the time to make more. Is there someone you know who can sew one for you from the pattern?
Sincerely,
Linda
Do you know anyone who sales these? I’m a beginner sewer. Not sure I’m ready for something like this but I want it!!
please, what kind of stabilizer do you recommend? I don’t find it here in Brazil, and I need to buy the right one on Ebay…
How do I purchase one of these! Love it!

I’d love to order one of these from you!! Can you make one in an ocean/beach or shell pattern?
How much would you charge including shipping?

What helps hold the trash bag in? Is it the D-rings?
Yes, the D-rings keep the bag from sinking to the bottom of the trash compartment. They don’t keep the bag open, though. You’ll have to do that periodically as trash is thrown.

Really cool idea. I will be using in Brasil!
I would love to buy cause I can’t sew.
i love it!
How did you make the physical pattern? I’m working on a pattern to sell for a tote and can’t find a software I like. Any suggestions would be appreciated! And I love the organizer! I’ve been thinking of making one for my van.
Hi Jessica, Sorry for the delay in replying. I wrote a post on pattern writing here: https://craftapple.wordpress.com/2009/05/20/pattern-designing-answers/. It might have some answers for you. As far as software I use Photoshop and MS Publisher. They have worked well for me and I was motivated to get them to work for me because I already owned them. I know others use different programs like In Design, but I haven’t ever tried them. I hope this helps!
God bless,
Linda
esta muy bonito el organizador.♣ FELICITACIONES ♣
I love this organizer. I’m not a seamstress – does anyone know where I could buy one already made?
I have been looking for an idea for keeping my stuff organised while driving 8 hours to our country place. This is great. Thank you.
Love love this idea, can I have the directions please?

The remote control includes 3 different frequencies, and you can operate the
car from up to 8 meters. Be smart and savvy when negotiating the interest rate for new cars and
don’t just sign on the bottom line. It is available
in two versions of petrol and diesel and has been a
very reasonable price.
